About the Family:
This is a wonderful, retired, and down-to-earth couple who have been married for 30 years. They are from middle-class families and are not used to having “staff” but find themselves needing some extra help with their busy lives. With two beloved dogs and multiple homes, they are seeking a reliable and dedicated household assistant who can also provide top-notch care for their pets. The family spends their summers and winters in Big Sky, Montana, and requires someone who is willing to travel to Montana to care for the dogs as needed. Their home base is in North Scottsdale and you will also be caring for the dogs several overnights per year there. Trips can be anywhere from 2 to 10 nights each trip, however, they do need you to be flexible if these trips are longer. 

  • Dogs: Mojo and Maddie, 5-year-old Labrador Retrievers, are cherished members of the family and require a dog sitter who truly loves and understands dogs. Full pet care is needed and you must understand how to care for dogs of this breed. 

Job Highlights:

  • Schedule: Full flexibility required – being on call as needed
  • Pay: TBD on position and the role this person takes on
  • Travel: 2-3 trips in the summer and 1-2 trips in the winter to Big Sky, Montana. Each trip ranges from 3 days to 10 days, with a total of approximately 30-40 days of travel per year. 
  • Overnights: You will be required to cover overnights with the dogs as needed in Scottsdale on a regular basis and possibly in other locations. You will need to live-in while caring for the dogs in Scottsdale and Montana.
  • Flexibility: The position requires complete flexibility, with no set schedule. The ideal candidate will be available whenever needed and excited about the opportunity to take on a dynamic and ever-changing role.

Responsibilities:

  • Dog Sitting:
    • Provide overnight care for Mojo and Maddie when the family travels, ensuring they are happy, healthy, and well-cared for in both Scottsdale and Montana. 
    • Travel to Big Sky, Montana, during summer and winter trips to care for the dogs.
    • Ensure the dogs’ needs are met, including feeding, exercise, and companionship.
    • There may also be some daily dog care needed at times, to care for the dogs while the family is busy during the days. 
  • Household Assistance:
    • Handle errands, including picking up items, managing vehicle care, and coordinating with vendors.
    • Manage maintenance schedules and ensure that the family’s homes are well-maintained.
    • Oversee property management tasks, including auditing bills and checking invoices.
    • Assist with administrative tasks, such as organizing and handling paperwork.
    • Be a proactive problem solver, willing to take on any project that arises.
    • Leave things the way you found them, ensuring the home is always in excellent condition.

Requirements and Considerations:
Applicants must meet all job requirements to apply:

  • Extensive experience assisting a family in a similar situation.
  • You must love dogs and have a genuine passion and knowledge for caring for them.
  • Administrative/office-type functions that require some experience in a business setting. Typing, filing, using a computer, phones, and technology. Experience with billing/invoicing and the capability to manage office-type tasks. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and the ability to take initiative.
  • Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Full flexibility with the ability to travel on short notice.
